What’s made easy..

I’ve always spent a lot of time on my own. Only child things, maybe… but you get used to setting your own rhythm. You also start to notice the small stuff. The way a space feels. The way people move. How much your environment shapes the decisions you think you’re making on your own.
A few weeks ago I stayed at this lodge in South Africa. Nothing over the top, but every detail felt intentional. No Wi-Fi in the rooms. Shared meals with other guests, guides, staff - all eating around the same table. The staff didn’t have set roles either. One day they were driving the truck, the next they were managing the front desk. Everyone knew how to do everything.
It wasn’t sold as “wellness,” but it felt like it. The space just kind of... slowed you down. You stayed off your phone. You talked to the people around you. Not because anyone told you to — but because it was easier to do that than not.
That’s the part that’s stuck with me since getting back. Because it reminded me how much of our day-to-day behavior is shaped by design, often quietly. And how we rarely give ourselves credit for just reacting to the world that was built around us.
Like at the airport.
Over the years, I’ve seen the grab-and-go shelves change. It used to be candy, soda, maybe a sad granola bar if you were lucky.
Now you’re seeing turmeric bites. Adaptogen drinks. Almond protein bars with four ingredients.
And people are choosing them. Not because they’ve all turned into wellness experts overnight, but because now those options exist.
That’s the thing I find to be peculiar. We talk so much about discipline, like it’s all up to the individual. But most of us are just making decisions based on what’s nearby, what’s affordable, what’s visible.
What’s designed to be easy.
So that’s what we think about a lot at Karma. Not just what’s in the bag, but how it shows up. How it feels in your hand. Where it’s placed on the shelf. What kind of moment it creates in the middle of a busy day.
So next time you’re in a store, stocking shelves, grabbing a snack, or just paying attention — take a second. Notice what’s being made easy. Notice what isn’t.
That kind of awareness goes a long way. We’re paying attention too.
